During our trek to Big Bend National Park, one of the objectives was to capture images of the courthouses in the small towns dotting the region. To our surprise, near the town squares usually built around the courthouses were small, intimate and well built churches. Many are on the National Register of Historical Buildings. It may have been the doors, more than likely the stained glass, sometimes the bell tower, the question of how did they build this in the early nineteenth century, or the steel blue skies contrasting with the buildings that captured our attention.
Enjoy this trip though Fort Davis, Marfa, Fort Stockton, Pecos, Alpine and Sanderson to name a few of the small towns with these churches.
