Canyonlands National Park
It is highly recommended to visit Canyonlands National Park if you love sweeping canyon panoramas, outstanding rock formations, river goosenecks, and to escape crowds at nearby Arches NP or the Grand Canyon. The views at this park are as vast and breathtaking as the Grand Canyon or Big Bend NP in Texas.
Canyonlands NP consists of three districts with travel time between them separated by hours. Most visit the Island in the Sky district, where the majority of the gallery images derived from. I also visited the Needles district to the south of Moab, where it snowed the morning of our visit in early March. Further afield is the Maze district where one needs a 4-wheeler or rugged mountain bike to explore.
With only a little over a day in the park this trip, I long to return. Canyonlands deserves at least two to three days of your vacation time. The rugged isolation and vast viewpoints are outstanding. Enjoy!
