Zenfolio | Curtis A. Smith Photography | Texas Courthouses - Gulf Coast

Visitors 5
We had a fun weekend get-away from our home base in Fort Bend County. This adventure led us west on Highway 35 to Corpus Christi, north on I-37 from Corpus Christi toward San Antonio, then east on Highway 59.

Photographed 13 Courthouses in the process. Missing from this collection are five courthouses located in Richmond, Houston, Conroe, Galveston and Anahuac. These will be added as this trip is an easy one. Those close to home always are!

The Courthouses along the coast tend to be newer. More than likely due to the ravages of hurricanes and storms throughout the years. Those along the route on Highway 59 are historic, on the National Register, and steeped in Texas history.

Favorites include Goliad County in Goliad. This is a fabulous little town with missions and historic venues all Texans should view during their lifetime. Others include Wharton County in Wharton, Bee County in Beeville, and Victoria County in Victoria.

Enjoy and let me know your favorite with a guestbook post. Thank you!

Guestbook for Texas Courthouses - Gulf Coast
Iris Mack Dayoub(non-registered)
My youngest daughter Gretchen Dayoub Phillips completed flight training at Beeville in 1986 after her graduation from the US Naval Academy. Mike and I visited her towards the end of her training there and greatly enjoyed breakfast at a local restaurant where we had grits with salsa and eggs in a tortilla.
